Assam: Elderly Woman Run Over by a Train in Mariani

It was mentioned that the unlucky incident took place when she was going out to pick tea leaves.

MARIANI: An elderly woman died after she was run over by a train in upper Assam. The incident took place in front of a forest office in the region.

According to local reports, the woman was run over by the 15910 UP Avadh Assam Train. The incident took place in front of the Gibbon Divisional Forest Officer’s office in Mariani of Jorhat District. The victim was identified as 75 years old Soniyar Karmakar belonging to the Dihingyapar Tea Gargen.

It was mentioned that the unlucky incident took place when she was going out to pick tea leaves. She reportedly died on the spot because of the accident. The personnel from the Railway Police Force arrived at the location after the incident and took custody of the dead body before sending it for a formal post-mortem.

In a recent road incident, approximately 30 passengers suffered injuries when the bus they were travelling in collided with a divider at the Galiya Toll Plaza in Bajali, Assam. The incident occurred on a Wednesday morning, resulting in significant damage to the bus bearing the registration number AS01 GC 5040. The bus reportedly lost control, leading to the collision with the toll plaza's divider and subsequent injuries to the passengers on board.

Reports indicate that the injured individuals were promptly taken to the Bhawanipur Health Centre for immediate medical attention. Among the injured passengers, approximately 30 sustained various degrees of injuries, with one individual's condition being described as critical. Medical personnel are working to provide the necessary care and treatment to the injured victims. Unfortunately, this incident adds to a series of recent road accidents in Assam. On a previous occasion, a tragic collision occurred in Goreswar, claiming the life of a young individual. This incident transpired at Bangalpara in Goreswar, within the Baksa district of Assam. The collision involved a high-speed motorcycle and a scooty, both colliding head-on, resulting in the fatality.
