The picnickers were reportedly from Raha, Nagaon. The episode took place when a herd of wild jumbo approached from the Shiva Kunda Hills, and attacked the people in the famous picnic spot. As per the reports, one member of the group was critically injured and died, while his mates managed to escape the situation.

It is to be noted that, a conflict has been rising between human and elephants since 2021. Too many cases has been reported as a result of this ongoing conflict.

A week prior to this incident, on December, a number of three people lost their lives after brutally getting attacked by will jumbos. The incident took place in Assam's Goalpara district. Other than the deceased, two people were rushed to the hospital as they were critically injured.

In most of the cases, it has been identified that, the elephants enters the human boundary in search of food. Recently, on 19th of December, a woman died as she got attacked by a wild jumbo in Golaghat district.

The deceased has been identified as Reena Das, and the episode occurred in Adarsh Gaon near Panbari area, as per sources. The woman reportedly went to a nearby paddy field for some work when the wild elephant approached and attacked her. The villagers rushed to spot immediately and took her to the hospital. However, she succumbed to her injuries. As per the local people in the area, the jumbo had come in search of food.

It is worth mentioning that, along with human beings, many elephants died as a result of electrocution since last year.

Electrocution occurs as result of illegal fencing by villagers to prevent entry of any wild animals into their houses and paddy fields. Most of the jumbo deaths are due to unmanaged hanging electric wires that touches their body.
