DEMOW: The people of Demow are all set to celebrate Durga Puja from Saturday. Due to online shopping and price rise, shops selling clothes did not do good business. ‘Bel Baran’ (Bel Shasti) was on Friday. Decoration of pandals have been completed and the idols were brought to the pandals on Friday.
According to sources, there will be 7 Durga Pujas in Demow this time. As the State Cabinet decided to provide Rs 10,000 each as grants-in-aid to the 3-year-old Durga Puja Committees, cheques were distributed among the eligible Durga Puja Committees at the District Commissioner’s office in Sivasagar on Friday. Saptami Puja will be held on Saturday.
