Assam: Film & television fraternity welcomes I&B Ministry's SOPs to resume film and TV serial production

The Ministry of I&B recently released a set of guidelines on preventive measures for Media Production

Guwahati: At a time when the entertainment industry has been brought to its knees by the raging coronavirus pandemic, the decision taken by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting for issuing guidelines to resume shooting has been heartily welcomed by the film and television fraternity of Assam. 

This follows the Ministry of I&B on August 23 releasing a set of guidelines on preventive measures for Media Production (shooting of films, television production, web series, and all forms of content creation in the electronic and film medium).

Manju Bora, an acclaimed film director from the state believes that working in small units will help prevent unwanted exposure to the virus and thanked the government for giving permission for the resumption of shooting. "The film industry has to adjust to the present situation and start shooting by following the guidelines prescribed by the I&B Ministry. This will help the fraternity to survive as many of the people working in this field are facing financial crisis", she said.

Sadananda Gogoi, appreciating the government's decisions for allowing shooting with guidelines, opined that the spreading of COVID-19 can be controlled by following the guidelines prescribed by the government.

Pabitra Margherita, Chairman of Jyotichitraban thanked the government for giving permission to start shooting. "The SOPs issued by the government are comprehensive one which includes almost every aspect of shooting, be it media production or audience management," Margherita reflected.

Film Director Shri Rajesh Bhuyan asserted that the entire film fraternity of Assam will follow the guidelines prescribed by the Government of India.

Popular film actresses of Assam Aimee Baruah and Nishita Goswami have also thanked the Government of India for issuing such detailed SOPs for media production. 'Ratnakar' star Nishita Goswami, while expressing her gratitude to the Ministry of I&B for releasing the guidelines for the restart of shooting, said that this will help the industry to come functional again.

The highlights of the guiding principles issued by the Ministry of I&B include the general principles which have been given by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
