Assam: Flood Safety Awareness Programme Organized by Fire and Emergency Services Station

DOOMDOOMA: In view of the flood situation in the State becoming critical following incessant rains for about a fortnight, the Fire and Emergency Services Station (F&ESS), Tinsukia started organizing the awareness and inspection programmes in Tinsukia district. A flood safety awareness-cum-ferry ghat inspection was conducted on Wednesday by Tinsukia F&ESS at Arahuti Parghat (IWT ), Guijan.

Suruj Khanikar, Response Team Commander of Tinsukia F&ESS said, “At least 50 ferry owners participated in the awareness programmes. NDMA guidelines on boat safety, 2017 were also distributed among ferry owners, lessies and boat operators.” He added, “They are requested to provide sufficient numbers of Lifebuoy, lifejackets, signal lights etc.” The NDMA issued guidelines for ghat safety, boats safety and fixed tasks for owners and lessies as Tinsukia had also several sensitive ghats on the river Brahmaputra.
