Assam: Flood situation grim in affected areas of Lakhimpur

LAKHIMPUR: The current flash flood situation in the affected areas of Lakhimpur district, caused by various rivers, has worsened day after day. On Monday, flash flood inundated 20 more revenue villages under 4 Revenue Circles (RC) of the district by rising the number of affected villages up to 67 from Sunday’s 47. The people in the affected areas have to suffer a lot with regard to holding on their normal life and procuring their fundamental needs. At present, flash flood caused by rivers Meneha and Gabharu has inundated 5 more revenue villages under Bihpuria Revenue Circle increasing the number of affected villages up to 20 from Sunday’s 15. The flood affected villages under this revenue circle are Dharmapur Block, Ahmedpur Block, Adhakhana, Kutubpur, Fatehpur, No. 2Adhakhana, Benganaati Grant, Bholukaguri, Dhunabari, Dhunabari Khanikar, No.1 Kaniajan, No. 2 Kaniajan, No.1 Chenimora Kangkur, No. 2 Chenimora Kangkur, Bahgora Pothar, Bahgora Deori, Puroni Bahgora, Daulotpur, Islampur Gaon, and No. 4 Dharmapur. In Narayanpur Revenue Circle, flash flood River Dropang has inundated 8 villages afresh. These villages are No. 2 Borpathar, No. 3 Borpathar, No. 1 Harmoti, No. 2 Harmoti, Saraidoloni, Saukuchi, Jarabari, and Dongia.
