Assam flood victims demand construction of RCC bridge over River Ghagar

The erosion and flood-affected people, living by the side of the River Ghagar (Subansiri), initiated protest programmes demanding the construction of the RCC bridge over the River Ghagar immediately.

LAKHIMPUR: The erosion and flood-affected people, living by the side of the River Ghagar (Subansiri), initiated protest programmes demanding the construction of the RCC bridge over the River Ghagar immediately. In support of the demand, the flood and erosion victims staged a three-hour-long sit-in at Ghagar Ghat on Wednesday.

By initiating the same protest programme, the protesters demanded to control the massive erosion of River Subansiri and to construct the deplorable embankment of the river at Ghunasuti area. Former MLA of No. Lakhimpur LAC, Ghana Buragohain took part in the agitation programme along with district unit Youth Congress president Ananda Narah, NSUI former vice-president Mridul Pegu and other dignitaries of the Congress party. The protesters displayed placards with various slogans demanding the immediate resolve of the issues.
