DHUBRI: The cruise, MV Kindat Pandava, which brought foreign tourists to Assam for the second time after the unprecedented success of the Ganga Vilas, entered Dhubri recently after completing its journey through the Indo-Bangladesh Protocol Route (IBPR). A group of 31 foreign tourists after visiting tourist places of interest including Queen Victoria Park, Gurudwara and Asharikandi Terracotta Cluster of villages left for Pandu (Guwahati). The revival of river cruise tourism in Assam has now begun with continuous international tourism, which is accelerating river economy.
A source guiding the tourists informed that the 31 tourists are from Canada, Australia, Switzerland, the United States and the UK. The 21-day river tour would culminate at Guwahati.
“This is an important moment in the revival of inland waterways of Assam. Under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, our ministry is economically and commercially managing National Waterway 2, the Brahmaputra,” he said.
“With the continuous arrival of international cruise ships, we are slowly building a strong ecosystem for the river cruise tourism industry. During this visit, foreign tourists have the opportunity to gain exciting experiences and explore art, culture, history, heritage and spirituality of India and Bangladesh. These successful voyages will give a new impetus to river tourism and trade in Assam and introduce tourists to our rich heritage and resources,” the guide added. The voyage started from Kolkata on October 24 this year and arrived in Dhaka, Bangladesh and left for Dhubri.
