Assam: Former principal of Sankardev Vidya Mandir feted

GAURISAGAR: He is the teacher who can dedicate himself to the advancement of learning. Most of the teachers are seen maintaining only the syllabus provided by the board, council, and universities. A teacher is not an institutional teacher; he must be the teacher of a home as well as of society. This was stated by Tuwaram Khanikar, former professor and head, English department, SMD College, while unveiling a felicitation book, ‘Nandanik’ edited by Rajib Dutta and Jibon Krishna Goswami, published on the eve of the felicitation programme of Dhrubeswar Nath, retired principal of Sankardev Vidya Mandir, Gaurisagar, on Saturday.

Before the meeting, the newly set-up school library was inaugurated by Deva Hazarika, former librarian at Sibsagar College (independent), Joysagar. In the meeting, Dr. Jibon Kalita, Associate Professor, Nazira College, took part as a distinguished guest. Other dignitaries who attended the function were Khageswar Saikia, a former teacher of the school; Dr.Soneswar Borah, a former headmaster of Nakatani High School; Nripen Hazarika, president of the school management committee; and many others.

In the meeting, the school managing committee felicitated its former principal and former president of the managing committee, Dhrubeswar Nath, with a gamusa, a cheleng sador, a memento, and a pack of books. Besides, former teacher Khageswar Saikia was also felicitated by the school fraternity in the meeting.
