SILCHAR: Despite government’s repeated warning, the illegal influx of Bangladesh nationals did not seem to stop. Four Bangladeshi citizens were apprehended at Gumrah in Katigorah, which shares riverine border with the neighbouring country, by the Village Defence Force on Sunday. Bangladeshis were later handed over to the police. Interestingly, the Bangladeshis confessed that they had entered India few months back and travelled various places including Jammu and Kashmir. Bangladeshis had been identified as as Safiq Ali of Sylhet, Mohammad Ali of Sunamganj, Mutashir Ali and Javed Ali of Habiganj. As all of them were residents of Sylhet which shares border with Karimganj, it seems they have entered India through any border area in Barak Valley. Few months back, a Bangladeshi youth had crossed the border with his bike through Sutarkandi land port despite heavy BSF deployment and checking. The motor bike was later found abandoned in Karimganj town, but the youth was yet to be nabbed.
