Assam: Freshers’ social of Lakhimpur Girls’ College held

LAKHIMPUR:  The freshers' social of the Lakhimpur Girls' College, a pioneer higher academic institution in woman education in North Assam, was held with fun and fair on Saturday. The agenda of the day-long event kick-started with the unfurling of the college flag by Principal Dr. Surajit Bhuyan. The smriti tarpan programme was administered by Vice-Principal Robin Kakati. Then the wall-magazine of the college, named 'Pratyush' was unveiled on the occasion of the freshers' social like the previous years. The wall-magazine was unveiled by North Lakhimpur Boys' Government HS School retired Vice-Principal Prafulla Sarmah. It was followed by the open session of the event which commenced with Principal Dr. Surajit Bhuyan in the chair. The open session was inaugurated by Jiten Sarmah, the president of the College Management Committee, who highlighted the glistening achievements of the women in various fields.

Popular vocal artiste of the State, Dr. Sangeeta Kakati graced the occasion as the chief guest. In her lecture, Dr. Kakati threw light on how hard work, regular study, scientific thoughts and perseverance could help the students in moulding their life. In the same event, ADC Sulakshana Borpatra Gohain released the annual magazine of the college. Moreover, prizes were given away to the brilliant students of the college, who passed the graduation exam with flying colours last year. It was followed by a colourful cultural programme with the participation of the students of the college.
