GUWAHATI: Delegates from the G20 presidency visited the Assam's World Heritage Site Kaziranga National Park on 1st of February, Wednesday. The group was welcomed in a beautiful and grand manner by the district administration.
A government spokesman informed that, the delegates enjoyed jeep safari in the Bagori and Kohora ranges of KNP. The first branch of G20 delegates also visited the Kaziranga Convention Centre located in Kohora.
The group was mesmerised by the beauty of the region and also the initiatives undertaken by the concerned department for protection and preservation of the Wildlife, added the spokesman.
Kaziranga National Park in its recent notification declared that, the wildlife sanctuary will be available for the tourists on 4th February, 2023. Divisional forest officer of the Eastern Assam Wildlife Division, KNP issued the notification stating that the park will be open for tourists in the mentioned date.
Due to some sort of management issues, concerned authorities of the park announced that Jeep Safari under Central Range, Kaziranga and Western Range along with Bagori will continue to stay restricted on 1st of February, 2023.
Recently, Assam Forest Unit announced that following the G20 delegates, jeep safari at KNP will be restricted on the 4th of February. Jeep Safari in the Bagori and Agoratoli range was supposed to be paused for general public, as issued in the statement by the department.
However, the restriction has been lifted up by the department now.
This year, G20 or Group of 20 summit is going to be attended by nine countries along with international organisations. A number of five meetings will be conducted in Guwahati and Dibrugarh district, under G20. The meetings are scheduled to take place on 2nd February, 3rd February, 6th February, 8th February, 13th to 15th March, 3rd April to 5th April and 24th to 25th.
