Assam Government Launches SVAYEM Scheme for Self Employment

Assam government on Wednesday has launched a scheme to strengthen the local industries and rural economy and making youths of the state self-employment

Guwahati: For local industries and rural economy, Assam Government on Wednesday has launched a scheme 'Swami Vivekananda Assam Youth Empowerment' (SVAYEM) at Amingaon, Guwahati.

Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal said the scheme will provide over 2 lakh skilled and talented youths in the state with the financial assistance of 50,000 each as seed money to start business ventures.

CM Sonowal took to his Twitter handle and wrote, "Empowering youth for a prosperous Assam. Glad to launch Re-SVAYEM scheme among the enthusiastic crowd at Amingaon, Guwahati. Named after great Swami Vivekananda, the scheme will provide financial assistance of Rs. 50,000 each to 2 lakh skilled & talented youths of the state."

CM Sonowal urged the beneficiaries to use the money in a productive manner. He further stated that the scheme would help the youth to become self-employed."Engaged with some work and being self-reliant." he added.

He also wrote," I believe the scheme will provide new impetus to the youth to work dedicatedly towards realising PM Shri @narendramodi Ji's vision of an #AatmaNirbharBharat."

CM Sonowal also said that apart from taking advantage of different government schemes asked the youths to think about how to set up industries, how to take bank loans for livestock farming, agriculture, etc.

Assam Finance, Health, and Education Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma wrote in his Tweet, "This scheme worth Rs 1000 cr is aimed at providing working capital support to enterprising individuals & groups to undertake new activities or expanding existing enterprises. It shall identify 2 lakh youth members SHGs, JLGs, FPOs; 1000 youth in each LAC in first phase."

Minister Sarma further added, "Re-SVAYAM: Redesigned Swami Vivekanand Youth Empowerment Yojana is an ambitious step towards empowering youth with special focus on rural economy Attended ceremonial launch of the scheme along with HCM @sarbanandsonwal at Kumar Bhaskar Barman Kshetra, Amingaon."

The scheme aims to generate employment opportunities in both rural and urban areas by setting up new ventures as well as increasing existing ventures and provide financial assistance to micro and small business entities engaged in the manufacturing, trading and services sector.
