Goalpara: In conformity with the Supreme Court guidelines, at least seven Declared Foreigners (DF) of Bongaigaon district were released by the State Government from the Goalpara and Kokrajhar detention camps on Thursday.
Among them, six have been freed from the detention camp inside Goalpara district jail and a woman has been freed from the Kokrajhar detention camp. These DFs, who have spent three or more years inside the detention camps, have been identified as Charu Sheikh, Aajhabar Ali and Ali Akbar of Jogighopa, Aasiruddin of Mereswar, Jalaluddun and Manekjan Biwi of Sidolsoti. The address of the released Nibarun Barman could not be ascertained.
After the release, all of them were brought to the office of the Superintendent of Police of Bongaigaon district for the necessary paper works. The released detainees have already fulfilled the legal conditions prepared by the State Home and Political department as per Supreme Court guidelines, like furnishing a bond with two sureties of Rs 1 lakh each from Indian citizens, besides giving details of their address of stay after release and providing biometric details in a secured database.
They will also have to report once a week at the police station specified at the time of release and immediately inform any change of stay address. On November 9, five inmates of Bongaigaon district were released through the same guidelines and procedures laid down by the Supreme Court.
