Assam Governor Gulab Chand Kataria reviews implementation of government schemes

 GUWAHATI: Governor Gulab Chand Kataria made his maiden visit to the oldest Sixth Schedule Council of the nation, the Dima Hasao Autonomous Council, and took part in a series of interactive-cum-review meetings with the CEM, Debolal Gorlosa and all the Executive Members, Secretaries, District Commissioner, Superintendent of Police, and all of the entrusted department officers of the Dima Hasao. Additional Chief Secretary Government of Assam B. R. Samal was also there during the meeting.

The Governor undertook a comprehensive evaluation of ongoing schemes undertaken by both the Central and State governments within the council’s purview. He delved deep into the works of various departments, including but not limited to Education, Public Works, and Tourism. Inquiring into the progress of important schemes such as the Jal Jeevan Mission, the Governor held discussions with officials responsible for these pivotal undertakings.

Drawing attention to the intrinsic potentials of the Dima Hasao, the Governor acknowledged its unique standing as the sole Hill Station within the State. Recognizing the inexorable potential it holds, the Governor underscored the district’s capacity to transform the State’s tourism panorama.

The Governor also chaired an interactive session with representatives of Student Organizations, Apex Socio-cultural bodies, and NGOs. Furthermore, beneficiaries of multiple schemes, ranging from the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana - Gramin (PMAY-G) to Orunodoi and Jal Jeevan Mission, shared the spotlight of the Governor’s visit.

Later in the day, a cultural programme was also organized in his honour of the Governor by the officials of the district.
