Assam: Govt Employee Accuses DC For Slapping Him In The Office

A government employee from Assam’s Kokrajhar district has claimed that an IAS officer has slapped him for not bringing her lunchbox in a carry bag.

GUWAHATI: A government employee from Assam's Kokrajhar district has claimed that an IAS officer has slapped him for not bringing her lunchbox in a carry bag. However, the allegation has been denied by the officer. 

The charges has been made against Deputy Commissioner, Varnali Deka. The allegation has been made by an individual named, Dipak Das of 50 years, who is serving as a government employee in Kokrajhar. 

Varnali Deka asserted that, she had only asked Das to do some sort of office related work and that the accusations is falsely. Dipak Das claims that, Deka had slapped him on 27th of January, at around 5pm in the evening. 

As per the claims, DC Varnali Deka had asked Das to bring her tiffin from the car upon which she got angry as Das failed to bring it in a carry bag. Initially she threw some food on Das and later slapped him hard near his ear, claimed Dipak Das.

His daughter, Sunita Das had also mentioned that, the family had to take Das for a medical checkup as he felt pain near his ear after the incident. The family paused from filing any sort of complaint regarding the matter as they were afraid of getting involved with the police and acting against an IAS officer, added Sunita.

She further informed that, an FIR was registered against the matter by her on 28th of January, but she withdrew it on the very next day. Contrary to the allegations, Varnali Deka stated that, after she got aware that Das was sick, she visited his residence and later the family withdrew the case.

Moreover, she also informed that, no physical action was taken by her and that she only was in a process to teach Das some office related work, which he was unable to catch up.
