Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday informed that the state government employees will have to seek permission before leaving the district, wherein, they are posted.

Sarma said this during an interaction in the Assam Vidhan Sabha.

''The government employees will now need Deputy Commissioner before leaving their district they are posted in,'' Sarma informed the assembly.

He further apprised that if any employee fails to follow the order, in that case, he/she will be suspended.

On Tuesday, Sarma had warned government employees no to leave district headquarters without proper permission, adding, ''Employees cannot work in one district and travel to the other on a daily basis.''

He further said that he is aware that many employees travel to work from their home district to the nearby district where they are posted.

Asserting that such attitude of travelling from home district to the deputed district cannot make one a responsible employee, Sarma said, '' Even if a video a government employee is found shopping in another district he/she can be suspended.''
