Assam: Govt Introduced New Taxi Service ‘ASTC City Cab’ in Guwahati

The Assam government on Monday introduced the first city taxi service ever to be offered through an app, called "ASTC City Cab." Parimal Suklabaidya, the Assam Minister of Transport, Excise, and Fisheries, introduced the app in Guwahati.

GUWAHATI: The Assam government on Monday introduced the first city taxi service ever to be offered through an app, called "ASTC City Cab." Parimal Suklabaidya, the Assam Minister of Transport, Excise, and Fisheries, introduced the app in Guwahati. The Assam State Transport Corporation (ASTC) has launched the app as part of a special endeavour to make it easier for commuters to navigate around Guwahati.

The Assam government debuted the first city taxi service to ever be made available through an app on Monday under the name "ASTC City Cab." The app was unveiled in Guwahati by Assam's Minister of Transport, Excise, and Fisheries, Parimal Suklabaidya.

In an effort to facilitate commuters' exploration of Guwahati, the Assam State Transport Corporation (ASTC) has introduced the app. Before starting normal operations, the service will be used for a month as a trial run.

Minister of Transport, Excise & Fisheries of Assam, Parimal Suklabaidya taking on twitter announced that, “Today marks a significant day for ASTC as we launched the first ever city cab service named ‘ASTC CITY CABS’ to facilitate ease of movement for the commuters across Guwahati.”

He also added, “Under the visionary guidance of HCM Dr. @himantabiswa

dangoriya, Assam Transport Dept is committed in ensuring safe & easy public transport for the people of Assam.

ASTC CITY CABS will be operating on a trial run for a month & 'll be starting its operations post trial run.”

This taxi business will reportedly employ up to 50,000 cabs, according to sources. The service would also be advantageous to the drivers since they will only be required to pay Rs. 12.50 per day in commission for each journey to the app.

Additionally, they guarantee that drivers won't cancel any trips, and they provide safety features including an emergency panic button, an airport hotline button, and an AI chatbot helpdesk for questions.

On the other hand, drivers will be able to sign up for the app starting right now. After a one-month trial, clients will also be able to download the app.
