Assam Govt issues guidelines for inter-district travel on July 30-31; check details here

The passengers will be compulsorily screened and only after that the journey shall be started

Guwahati: Assam state government has issued some guidelines for the inter-district movement of citizens for two days on July 30-31. which has been allowed in view of the upcoming Eid celebrations.

The bus service which will move from one district to another will have to follow certain rules and regulations in order to minimize the risk of transmission.

As per guidelines given by Assam Government, a bus can carry only 50 percent passengers and the passengers have been asked to strictly maintain COVID-19 protocols during the entire journey (like wearing a mask and maintaining social distancing).

The passengers will be compulsorily screened, and only after that, the journey shall be started, the Government has said.

As per reports,11 buses would travel from Guwahati to Upper Assam while a total of 51 buses will travel in the entire state.

It is to be mentioned that the Assam government has allowed inter-district movement of citizens on July 30-31 to visit their homes before Eid-Ul-Azha or Bakri Eid, which will be observed on August 1.

This announcement was made on July 22, the day the Government's ban on the movement of persons between districts in view of the ongoing COVID-19 situation came into effect. "Inter-district movement of citizens is allowed is allowed on 30th and 31st July 2020 in the State of Assam subject to the strict compliances of COVID-19 regulations as detailed in the various guidelines of Government of India", said the Chief Secretary's notice pertaining to the matter.

This comes after the Assam Government's Chief Secretary had issued a notice restricting the inter-district movement of individuals effective July 22. A notification signed by the Assam State Chief Secretary Kumar Sanjay Krishna read, "Only emergency service vehicles have been allowed for the inter-district movement."
