Assam govt likely to modify lockdown guidelines from Aug 16; check new rules here

As per a report, the Assam Government has made several modifications to the currently existing lockdown rules

Guwahati: As per a report, the Assam Government has made several modifications to the currently existing lockdown rules that have been imposed to arrest the spread of coronavirus disease in the state.

As per the report, the new rules under the revised guidelines shall be as follows:

All permitted activities mentioned in earlier orders to be allowed between 5 AM and 9 PM from Monday to Friday

The inter-district movement will now be allowed from Monday to Friday from the existing Mondays and Tuesdays.

The use of public transportation will be allowed subject to the maintenance of all COVID-19 protocols and social distancing.

Night curfew timings have been relaxed and will now be in place from 9:30 PM to 5 AM from the existing timings. However, the centre has urged the states and UTs to abolish the night curfew entirely in keeping with its strategy of "unlock."

Social/Political/Sports/Entertainment/Academic/Religious functions and other large congregations shall remain closed.

Cinema halls, swimming pools, entertainment parks, theaters, bars, auditoriums, assembly halls, and similar places of public gatherings shall remain closed.

Weekend lockdown will strictly remain in place across Assam.

Additionally, the wearing of face cover shall be made compulsory in public places, in workplaces and public transport etc and any violation will attract a fine of Rs 1000 for the first offence.

The Assam Government's order on relaxations and modifications in lockdown rules will come into force from 5 AM of August 16 and will remain valid till 9:30 PM of Aug 31, 2020.

As per the report, the order containing these directives is likely to be issued by the Government on Thursday, August 13.

Meanwhile, the state government is on an aggressive mode of conducting 1 lakh tests daily to increase the sample size and flatten the curve. The COVID-19 positivity rate in the state, meanwhile, remains well below 5%.
