Assam Govt Planning to Launch City Bus Service in Nalbari District

GUWAHATI: In the near future, the Assam government intends to launch a city bus service in Nalbari District. Assam's Minister of Public Health, Engineering, Skill Development, Employment & Entrepreneurship, and Tourism, Jayanta Mallabaruah, met with ASTC representatives and discussed whether it would be feasible to start a city bus service in the Nalbari area.

Jayanta Mallabaruah also held a combined meeting at Janata Bhawan office with representatives from the tourism and forest departments. They had a thorough conversation about how both departments will work together to develop Deepor Beel and other parts of the tourism industry.

Moreover, taking on twitter Mallabaruah wrote that, “Chaired a review meeting with the PHED officials of Tezpur Divisions 1 & 2 and Biswanath Chariali Division in presence of concerned MLAs, DC Sonitpur & officials of district administration and discussed various aspects related to the implementation of Jal Jeevan Mission and Swach Bharat Mission at DC conference Hall, Sonitpur today.”

On the other hand, in May, according to reports that surfaced, the Assam State Transport Corporation (ASTC) will terminate the employment of up to 771 people who were hired unlawfully.

Sources said that during the time Anand Prakash Tiwari and Khagendra Nath Chetia served as Managing Directors, 2,274 people were hired without following the proper procedures.

Moreover, beginning on June 1, the Assam State Transport Corporation (ASTC)'s staff declared to go on a state-wide strike. ASTC prepares to fire 771 employees who were allegedly hired unfairly, the company has decided to go on strike.

Following the necessary investigation, the transport department will evaluate the current ASTC contractual employees.

The assessment will be used to determine the best course of action for only keeping legally appointed contractual personnel who are absolutely necessary.

The remaining employees will be let go immediately, and this procedure should be finished in 60 days.
