Guwahati: The two Assam Civil Service (ACS) officers who were arrested for their alleged involvement in village headmen appointment scam has been suspended by the Assam Government.
The suspended government officials have been identified as Bikram Aditya Bora and Abdul Khair Ilias Noshim Ahmed.
"Abdul Khair Ilias Noshim Ahmed, ACS, Deputy Secretary to the Government of Assam, Transport department was arrested by the officials of the Chief Minister's Special Vigilance Cell, Assam on November 4 in connection with Vigilance Police Station case no. 05/2021 and was detained under custody beyond 48 hours," said a notification issued by the Personnel (A) department of the Assam government on 15 December.
"The Governor of Assam, therefore, in the exercise of powers conferred under Rule 6 (2) of the Assam Services (Discipline & Appeal) Rules. 1964 is pleased to order that Shri Abul Khair Ilias Noshim Ahmed. ACS. Deputy Secretary to the Govt. of Assam, Transport Department is deemed to have been placed under suspension with effect from the date of his arrest until further orders," the notification further added.
A similar notification has also been issued by the Personnel (A) department for Bikram Aditya Bora, Deputy Secretary of Bodoland Territorial Region.
The two suspended officers got arrested by the Chief Minister's Special Vigilance Cell on 4 December for their alleged involvement in the illegal appointment of village headmen in South Salmara Mankachar district of Assam during 2017-18.
Earlier, a 305-page charge sheet had been filed by the Chief Minister's Vigilance Cell. It was in response to the Vigilance Police Station case number (05/21) for village headmen employment fraud.
