Assam Govt to Reverify TET Teachers' Documents in 21 Dist, School Inspectors to Submit Report by Oct 22

GUWAHATI: The Assam Government has decided to take steps to reverify the documents of the TET passed teachers.

According to reports, the government has issued notices to the Inspector of Schools of 21 districts to reverify the documents submitted by the TET teachers appointed under them.

The Inspector of Schools has been also directed to submit their reports by October 22, 2021.

It could be mentioned here that the Assam police Criminal Investigation Department(CID) of late arrested 36 TET teachers from four BTR districts as their education documents were found fake.

The government is of the view that such incidents may happen in other districts too. As such, it has passed directions to reverify TET teachers' documents.

Earlier, the Assam Police have launched a major crackdown on the fake TET certificate racket in the State. Meanwhile, till the filing of this report, the CID (Criminal Investigation Department) has registered a case (10/2021 u/s 120B/420/467/471 IPC) against 36 teachers who had obtained appointments based on forged TET certificates. This move follows an investigation of the Education Department.

This departmental probe exposed the fact that many individuals are working as TET teachers producing fake TET certificates in a number of districts.

Mentionable as many as 22 teachers have been arrested after their TET certificates were found forged, while more than 100 teachers have been issued notices to show cause for such forgery, said sources. Moreover, more than 15 other teachers are under the scanner of the State police.
