The special vaccination centres are -- office of the block elementary education officer (BEEO) of all districts, office of the district elementary education officer (DEEO) of all districts and campuses of all universities.

It may be mentioned that the state government, in view of a gradual decrease in coronavirus positive cases, made an announcement on Thursday of starting offline classes for Class-XII students and for the students who are studying in final-year degree and post-graduation courses from the first week of September. A meeting was held in Guwahati in this regard in which the decision was finalised. The meeting was chaired by chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.

Another important decision was taken that the first dose of Covid-19 vaccine will be mandatory for attending the offline classes. A detailed standard operating procedure (SOP) on reopening of educational institutions is expected to be issued by August 31.

The first case of coronavirus in Assam was found in Karimganj district on March 31 last year. Over 89,000 people have been infected and over 230 persons have been killed by the virus in the state so far.
