Assam Health Minister Offers Remdesivir Vaccine to Northeastern States, Says 25,000 Vials in Stock

The Health Minister taking to his Twitter Handle wrote, "We have decided to release Remdesivir doses to non-resident Assamese and nursing homes."

GUWAHATI: Assam Health and Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that the state is well stocked with 25,000 vials of Remdesivir vaccine and can be used by northeastern states.

The Health Minister taking to his Twitter Handle also wrote, "We have decided to release Remdesivir doses to non-resident Assamese and nursing homes. We have also made concerted efforts to boost oxygen generation and storage capacity in Assam, making it an oxygen surplus state."

Further, the minister stated that currently, 8 oxygen plants operational in Assam and one plant in Bhutan will be operational with cooperation from the Bhutanese govt and MEA which will provide 50MT per day.

Notably, Assam is consuming 20 metric tonnes of oxygen per day and in the last 10 days, the state has rejuvenated some of our old oxygen plants with which oxygen production capacity has reached 61 MT per day, and also PSA plants set up in various city hospitals and medical colleges.

Meanwhile, 200 more ICU beds have been made available in the last 10 days, and efforts are on increase this further.
