Assam: HS Students With First Division To Get Scooters Based On Cut-Off Marks

He further said that scooters were given to students last year based on a set of cut-off marks, and the same will be repeated this year under the same conditions.

Guwahati: Assam Education Minister Ranoj Pegu on Monday asserted that students who have got the first division in the Higher Secondary examinations will get a scooter.

''Earlier, the Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma had said that students securing first division in HSLC and HS would be given a scooter. The scooter will be given on the basis of cut-off marks,'' media reports quoted him as saying.

He further said that scooters were given to students last year based on a set of cut-off marks, and the same will be repeated this year under the same conditions.

The Chief Minister will decide how to continue the Anundoram Barooah reward for first-division holders.

The higher secondary (HS) results were released by the Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC) on Monday.

As per the official data from AHSEC, the passing percentage in Arts is 83.48%, Commerce- 87.26%, and Science- 92.19%.

Around 156107 students appeared for the HS exam in the Arts stream and out of them, around 130324 or 83.48% have passed. In the Arts Stream, Cherry Gohain of Women's College Tinsukia and Sadhana Devi of Kamrupa Girls' Senior Secondary School has topped with 487 marks.

On the other hand, in the Science stream, as many as 33534 students wrote the exam and of them, 30915 or 92.19% make it to the passing list. In the Science stream, Dhritiraj Bastav Kalita of Deomoroni HS School has topped with 491 marks.

Lastly, 15199 students sat for exams in the Commerce stream and of them, around 13264 or 87.27% have passed. In the Commerce stream, Sagar Agarwal of Vivekananda Senior Secondary School, Cachar has secured the top position with 482 marks.
