GUWAHATI: In Goroimari, under the jurisdiction of the Laruajaan police station in Kamrup district, a significant breakthrough occurred as locals successfully busted a human trafficking racket on Friday night. Taking matters into their own hands, residents of the area apprehended Jiarul Haque, a notorious individual allegedly involved in human trafficking, and handed him over to the police.

Reports suggest that Haque was found in a compromising position with another woman, leading to his capture by the vigilant locals. It has been revealed that Haque is accused in multiple cases related to human trafficking and had been evading law enforcement for a prolonged period.

In addition to apprehending Haque, the locals also captured one of his close associates, Hasina Begum, who is believed to have procured women and teenage girls from different parts of the state. Begum's alleged involvement included trafficking these individuals to various states across the country. Haque's criminal record extends to multiple police stations throughout the state.

Currently, both Jiarul Haque and Hasina Begum remain in the custody of the Jorshimuli police, as investigations continue to uncover additional links and potential accomplices involved in the human trafficking racket.

This incident follows a recent rescue operation conducted by the Railway Protection Force (RPF) in May. During the operation, the RPF successfully rescued 42 individuals from different trains and stations, thwarting an ongoing human trafficking bid. Two suspects were arrested in connection with the operation, which spanned locations such as Katihar, Purnea, Barsoi, Kumedpur, New Bongaigaon, Rangiya, Kamakhya, Guwahati, Mariani, Tinsukia, New Jalpaiguri, New Tinsukia, and Dimapur railway stations.

The rescued individuals, consisting of two mentally retarded men, two women, and two girls, were promptly handed over to the respective child lines for safe custody and eventual reunification with their families. The Railway Protection Force's efforts underline their commitment to combating human trafficking and ensuring the well-being of vulnerable individuals.

As investigations progress, authorities will strive to dismantle the human trafficking network entirely, bringing all involved individuals to justice. The collaboration between vigilant locals and law enforcement agencies demonstrates the power of community involvement in combating such heinous crimes and protecting the most vulnerable members of society.
