Assam: Illegally transported tobacco products seized by 6th Bn SSB

KOKRAJHAR: The 6th Bn SSB on Sunday morning seized as many as 13 cartons of tobacco products being transported by a Bhutanese vehicle at Dadgari check post near Indo-Bhutan border.

Sources from SSB said that during the routine checking at BIT Post at Dadgiri, a Bolero Camper van with registration number BP-3-A 4371 loaded with 13 cartons (10,920 pouches) of Rajnigandha pan masala was seized by BIT duty party of D. Coy Dadgiri. The driver of the vehicle was apprehended as he failed to produce proper documents of the van and items being transported. The team was led by ASI/GD Kritam Singh. The arrested person was identified as Pema Tamang (34), son of Gopal Tamang of village Hatisar under Runikhata PS of Chirang district. The seized Bolero camper van, 3 cartons of Rajnigandha pan masala worth Rs 8,75,000 was handed over to Land Custom, Dadgiri.
