Assam: Infamous Cattle Smuggler Shot while trying to Flee Police Custody

Dibrugarh police fired on infamous cattle smuggler Mohammad Akhtar Raja Khan alias Tiklu Khan as he attempted to leave police custody.

On Thursday morning, Dibrugarh police fired on infamous cattle smuggler Mohammad Akhtar Raja Khan alias Tiklu Khan as he attempted to leave police custody.

"We had taken him to Brahmaputra Chapori for further recovery of cattle, he managed to escape from our custody and we shot at his leg. He sustained an injury on his right leg injury and was admitted to AMCH for treatment," stated Dibrugarh SP Shwetank Mishra. 

Dibrugarh police apprehended three cattle traffickers and confiscated 95 cow heads from their custody on Wednesday along the Brahmaputra riverside in upper Assam Dibrugarh.

Mohammad Akhtar Raja alias Tiklu Khan, Mohammad Anuwarul Haque, and Mohammad Anish Rahman have been identified as the smugglers.

According to sources, Tiklu Khan is involved in a variety of illegal operations and operates a cattle syndicate in upper Assam. 

"Tiklo Khan is a notorious cattle smuggler in upper Assam and he smuggled most of the cattle through river route and sell them at a high price. Tiklo Khan runs the cattle syndicate in upper Assam by managing police, journalists, organisation leaders, etc. He is a mastermind at creating forged documents," as per sources. 

Recently, the state has seen an increase in the number of criminals being shot by police in order to keep them from fleeing police custody.

According to Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, Assam Police should become one of the most professional departments in the country. The Chief Minister was speaking at the state's first-ever meeting of officers in charge of various police stations in Guwahati. 

The Assam Chief Minister went on to say that police should not harm the general population but rather be tough on criminals. He directed all police to submit chargesheets in situations involving crimes against women and homicide. He stated that such instances should be charged as soon as feasible. 

The Assam Police, overseen by CM Himanta Biswa Sarma, has been tasked with the herculean task of guaranteeing peace and tranquility and making Assam one of the safest states in the country. So far, the police have done an admirable job in breaking criminal operations such as narcotics trafficking, human tracking, multiple rape and murder cases, among many others.
