GUWAHATI: Tensions erupted in the town of Karimganj, Assam, following the tragic death of a nine-month-old girl due to alleged wrong treatment at a private hospital. The child, belonging to Kishore Kumar from Bazari Cherra, was initially admitted to the 'Life Line Hospital' after falling ill. Unfortunately, her condition worsened, prompting a referral to the Silchar Medical College and Hospital (SMCH). Tragically, the child passed away during her treatment at SMCH, fueling a dispute between the family and the doctors at Life Line Hospital. Subsequently, both parties filed separate complaints with the local police, further intensifying the situation.

The grieving mother of the deceased child shared her account, stating, "Our baby was suffering from diarrhea. We brought her to the hospital, and the doctor prescribed medication. However, her condition did not improve. Later, the doctor reassured us that it was a normal ailment for a young child and would resolve soon." She continued, "During the night, when the doctor administered an injection, our baby started shivering and crying immediately. Instead of transferring her to a better-equipped facility, we had to forcefully request a referral to SMCH. The doctors there informed us that the injection had affected her brain. Sadly, she passed away."

The father of the child expressed strong criticism towards the doctors and the hospital, demanding justice while sharing his grievances on camera. The incident has sparked outrage within the community and has drawn attention to the quality of medical care provided at private hospitals in Karimganj.

Local law enforcement authorities have initiated an investigation into the matter to ascertain the events leading to the child's death. The police will examine the allegations made by the grieving family and the hospital staff involved. It is essential to determine whether any medical negligence occurred and hold the responsible parties accountable.

The untimely death of the nine-month-old child has not only left her family devastated but has also caused unrest within the community. The incident highlights the importance of proper healthcare services and adherence to medical standards in order to prevent such unfortunate incidents from occurring. The authorities must ensure a fair and thorough investigation, providing justice to the grieving family and restoring faith in the healthcare system.

Efforts should also be made to raise awareness about patients' rights, the importance of seeking timely medical care, and the need for effective communication between medical professionals and patient's families. By addressing these concerns and taking appropriate action, steps can be taken to prevent similar incidents in the future and uphold the trust and well-being of the community.
