Assam: Inter-District Movement Likely to Resume from September 1

GUWAHATI: Inter-district public movement in Assam is likely to resume from September 1, 2021, after a three-month halt due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

In an interaction with media during his visit to Golaghat, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma hinted that if the COVID-19 infection number comes down to below 500 daily in the state, the government will completely lift all restrictions.

"Currently, the number of COVID positive cases is 700 daily. We will lift all restrictions once the number comes below 500," he added.

The Chief Minister further said that the government will try to lift restrictions upon the inter-district movement, even the state daily records number of COVID-19 positive cases 700.

In this context, the Chief Minister said that the government is thinking of starting the final year of graduation, the final year of postgraduate, the final year of higher secondary, and the tenth-grade regular teaching from 1st September.

"We urge all students above the age of 18, undergraduate and postgraduate students studying in Class XII to get vaccinated. Because it is compulsory to take a vaccine to stay in a hostel Students will need a Vaccine Dodge to stay in the hostel," said the CM.

"Vaccine users can stay in hostels That is why we have called upon the students above the age of 18 to take the vaccine so that the colleges can be reopened," he further added.

It may be mentioned that the Chief Minister also took note of the situation in the district and received blessings at the Athkheliya Namghar, Golaghat.
