Assam: International Senior Citizens’ Day observed in Bilasipara

Under the aegis of Bilasipara Senior Citizens Forum, International Senior Citizens’ Day was observed at Bilasipara. In this connection, the flag of the forum was hoisted by Purandar Nath, president of the forum followed by offering of floral tribute to the departed senior citizens by Jagadananda Barkalita.

BILASIPARA: Under the aegis of Bilasipara Senior Citizens Forum, International Senior Citizens’ Day was observed at Bilasipara. In this connection, the flag of the forum was hoisted by Purandar Nath, president of the forum followed by offering of floral tribute to the departed senior citizens by Jagadananda Barkalita. After the flag hoisting, a procession was taken out and traversed through the main road of Bilasipara Town.

A general meeting was held in the premises of Bilasipara Sub-Divisional Public Library with Purandar Nath in the chair. Attending the meeting as distinguished guest Dr. Kanu Lal Das and Dr.Nasir Zaman, In-charge, Bilasipara Model Hospital addressed the meeting advising the senior citizens regarding their health. The vote of thanks was offered by Dr. Muzammel Hoque, secretary of Bilasipara Senior Citizens’ Forum. Dayal Paul read out a memorandum addressed to SDO(Civil), Bilasipara depicting the burning problems faced by the senior citizens in particular and the public in general. The forum brought out a souvenir in this connection which was edited by J. Barkalita and released by Sudhir Roy, Executive Member of KAC.
