He secures a 99.83 percentile in CAT 2023

NAGAON: A civil service officer of Indian Railways from Assam, Kapinjal Kishore Sharma, emerged in the toppers list, scoring 99.83 percentile in CAP 2023, the results of which were declared a few days ago.
Kapinjal Kishore Sharma holds an impeccable academic record from his initial days. Being a rank holder in class 10th board exams in 2005, Sharma cleared IIT JEE in 2007 and joined the prestigious IIT Guwahati to pursue his B. Tech in Civil Engineering from IIT Guwahati. Completing his engineering degree from IIT Guwahati in 2011, he begged an All India rank of 132 in the GATE exam, following which he completed his M. Tech in Structural Engineering degree from the same institution, i.e., IIT Guwahati, in 2013.
As far as his academic career is concerned, Sharma didn't stop his academic milestone, but in 2015, he again appeared for both the APSC Civil Service Exam and the UPSC Civil Service Exam and was able to secure the 14th rank in the APSC and also begged a
256 rank in the UPSC Civil Service Exam. Later, he joined Indian Railways as an officer of the Indian Railways Traffic Service and has been rendering his services in various sectors, including operations, marketing, and business development, at different divisions in Northeast India.
Since the last two years, he has been working as the Senior Divisional Commercial Manager of Lumding Division, looking after all the railway commercial activities in the states of Tripura, Manipur, Mizoram, Nagaland, and parts of Assam, including the districts of Kamrup (Metro), Marigaon, Nagaon, Karbi Anglong, Dima Hasao, and the Barak Valley.
During his tenure, he has focused on enhancing the revenue earnings of the railways as well as impairing the customer experience of passengers at railway stations.
Apart from this, a number of novel measures have been taken on his watch to enhance the passenger experience at railway stations. A world-class executive lounge was recently opened at Guwahati Railway Station to provide world-class facilities to railway passengers, enhancing the image of developing railways. In addition, a wide range of food and beverage stalls, retiring rooms, cloak rooms, etc. have been started at different railway stations in Assam to facilitate the best facilities for passengers.
While speaking to this correspondent here, Sharma expressed his future desire to pursue a PhD from IIM Shillong to carry out research on state-of-the art methods and strategies to enhance passenger experience at railway stations in Northeast India, which can lead to greater comfort and satisfaction for passengers.
