Assam: ISRO scientist Uddipana Kalita brings laurels to Jamugurihat

JAMUGURIHAT: Uddipana Kalita, an ISRO scientist who originally hails from Jamugurihat, was one of the members of the scientists’ team of ISRO which worked round-the-clock to make the Chandrayaan- 3 mission a successful one. The Chandrayaan-3 landed successfully on the Moon’s south pole creating a world record on Wednesday. Uddipana is a daughter of Suren Kalita, former librarian of THB College, Jamugurihat and a resident of Bahbari Satra here.

Though the involvement of Uddinapa in the historic Chandrayaan-3 mission came to light late, after the successful landing of Chandrayaan-3, people of all sections rushed to her Bahbari Xatra residence and felicitated her father on the successful mission and congratulated him and Uddipana for the success.

Individuals, including Sootea MLA Padma Hazarika and the leading personalities of the greater Jamugurihat area, along with the representatives of various socio-cultural organizations of the greater Jamugurihat area, visited Uddipana’sBahabariXatra residence on Thursday morning and felicitated her father Suren Kalita.

Notably, Uddipana had studied at KV No 2, Airforce Station, Tezpur and graduated from AMITY University in Electronics and Communication Engineering in 2012.
