Guwahati: The Assam Government on August 9 issued fresh directives (SOP) for incoming flight passengers and revised some of the guidelines that are in place to mitigate the risk of coronavirus outbreak.
As per the new rules and regulations issued by the state government, any air passenger who departs from Assam within 24 hours of arrival need not undergo quarantine. However, this revised rule will be subject to a few conditions that the Government will expect the incoming visitors to follow. Firstly, he/she must provide a copy of the return ticket indicating his/her departure within 24 hours.
Secondly, he/she shall have to provide swab samples for rapid antigen testing. The passenger shall only be allowed to proceed if his/her test result is negative. If it is positive, he/she must mandatorily go for isolation/quarantine.
In the case of symptomatic visitors, RT-PCR tests shall be conducted, even if the rapid antigen test result is negative. The person shall remain in isolation until the result is out.
In case the visitor exceeds the 72 hours' time, he/she shall face penal action and shall be placed under quarantine. Additionally, the incoming visitors have been urged to adhere to all the prescribed guidelines -- such as the practice of social distancing and wearing of masks to minimize the risk of transmission.
