ASSAM: A law student in her fifth semester from Mangaldoi located in the Darrang district of Assam has passed away due to Japanese Encephalitis (JE), which is transmitted through mosquitoes. She was receiving treatment at Gauhati Medical College and Hospital for an extended period before passing away at 5:30 am on Sunday.
The student named Susmita Hazarika was first diagnosed with Japanese Encephalitis and admitted to a nearby hospital in Mangaldoi. Later, she was transferred to GMCH for better medical attention yet even after all the persistent efforts of her healthcare team, unfortunately, Susmita couldn't survive due to severe complications related to this neurological ailment.
