GOLAGHAT: Kargil Vijay Diwas was observed on Wednesday at the residence of Kargil War hero and martyr, Captain Jintu Gogoi, VrC of 17 Garhwal Rifles located at Khumtai, Golaghat. He was posthumously awarded the Vir Chakra for his heroism. Lt Col Ak Jayanta, OC 74 Assam Girls (I) Coy, NCC, Golaghat along with one JCO and 2 NCOs laid the wreath at the memorial of the martyr. A tricolour flag hoisting and wreath-laying ceremony was organized.
Cadets of 12 Assam paid tributes at the memorial of Captain Jintu Gogoi, VrC at Kumtai. Mrinal Saikia, MLA Kumtai, Dr Amiya Kr Das, Principal Joya Gogoi College, and others were present at the event.
