Assam: Kokrajhar DC holds flood review meeting

All the Circle Officers were asked about the book grant of 2,912 students. They informed that they had submitted the list and the grant had been processed.

Kokrajhar: A flood review meeting under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner-cum-chairperson of District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), Kokrajhar, Varnali Deka was held at the conference hall of the Deputy Commissioner's office on Saturday. The meeting discussed about the restoration and rehabilitation measures to be taken up in the district.

During the meeting, Water Resources department informed that they had submitted a list of 79 schemes under State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) while Social Welfare department had informed they had submitted a list of AWCs, PWD (RR) had submitted a list of 405 schemes, Irrigation had submitted a list of 11 Flow Irrigation Schemes and Veterinary and Animal Husbandry had submitted a list of 10 goats.

Further, all the Circle Officers were asked about the book grant of 2,912 students. They informed that they had submitted the list and the grant had been processed.

Deputy Commissioner and chairperson of DDMA, Varnali Deka stressed the need of timely scrutiny and submission of correct account numbers of the affected beneficiaries. She asked the Circle Officers concerned to completely verify the list of house damages, houses washed away and also to ensure inclusion of all beneficiaries eligible for a grant of Rs 3,800 for loss of clothes, utensils and household items during floods. The Deputy Commissioner also asked the irrigation department whether farmers are facing any drought-like situation in the district at present and if such a situation is observed to take necessary steps from the department at the earliest. Steps will also be taken to rejuvenate the irrigation facilities in the district.
