DHUBRI: Nrityangan, a cultural organization of Dhubri, opened a little library recently for school children to build a habit of reading books among them.

The library was set up in the premises of Nrityangan in ward no 6 wherein regular classes and training on dance are held. It was formally inaugurated by retired academician, Dr Pratima Neogi. In her brief speech, Dr Neogi outlined the importance of building a habit of studying books by young children because due to the use of mobile phones, children do not like to read books.

“This an attempt and initiative by Nrityangan which has been relentlessly making efforts to impart training on art, dance and drama among the children by the exponent in the fields. I hope that the effort by the organization will go a long way in bringing children of Dhubri into the fold of reading books,” Dr Neogi added.

Founder of Nrityangan, Dipankar Mazumder said that the culture of reading books was vanishing fast among the school children and there was hardly any reader found in Dhubri District Library nowadays.

“Instead of reading books, most of the school children are found glued to their smartphones. This is not only a serious social issue, but also a big matter of concern,” he added. He appealed to parents to be cautious and to encourage their children to read books in their leisure time.
