Property Worth More Than Rs 5 Lakhs Damaged in a Fire in Goroimari

The fire broke out after a battery explosion in a government solar power plant.

GUWAHATI: Early on Saturday morning, a massive fire broke out in Pas Gumi village in Goroimari, Kamrup.

As per sources, the extensive fire outbreak completely damaged the two homes of a man by the name of Mahuruddin. In a government solar power plant, a battery explosion caused the fire to start.

The incident caused property worth Rs. 5 lakh to burn down, destroying all the possessions, necessary papers, and money inside the residence. However, local residents' efforts succeeded in putting out the fire.

In a related incident, an apartment building in Guwahati's Rajgarh neighbourhood caught fire early on Friday. Initial reports indicate that the incident occurred in the Guwahati neighbourhood of Rajgarh's Rajani Apartment, in by-lane number 9.

According to the information gathered, the apartment complex's fourth story was where the flames first appeared. The cause of the fire has not yet been determined. A large number of firefighters have been dispatched right away, and the fire is currently being put out.

Also, the amount of damage is still unknown. So far, there have been no recorded fatalities or injuries.

A big fire that occurred earlier on February 23 in Guwahati's Hatigaon neighbourhood left up to 127 families distressed and shattered, and many of them complained that they had sustained damages totalling several lakhs.

Those who had lost crucial documents, including bank passbooks, NRC certificates, insurance policies, voter cards, pan cards, and more, were among the victims of the fire who were severely hurt.

A youngster was seen in a video gathering his possessions from the house that had been completely burned in the tragic fire.

Later, it was discovered that just a few of the 127 families were renting their homes and making a living as masons and roadside sellers.
