GUWAHATI: In a significant operation led by Assam police DIG Dr. Partha Sarathi Mahanta and Kamrup ASP Kalyan Kumar Pathak, law enforcement authorities in Kamrup, Assam, successfully seized a substantial consignment of heroin weighing 2.2 kilograms, with an estimated street value of INR 18 crore. This daring operation took place late on Monday night, September 11, near Guwahati city, specifically in the Amingaon area of Kamrup district.

The drug haul was meticulously concealed within 170 soap cases and stashed away in hidden compartments ingeniously integrated into a Mahindra Thar vehicle. The bust led to the apprehension of a total of six individuals, including three non-residents of Assam and three locals, all suspected of being involved in the illicit drug trade.

This remarkable achievement is attributed to a collaborative effort between the Assam police's recently formed special task force (STF) and the Kamrup police. The operation's success represents a significant milestone in the ongoing battle against drug trafficking in the region.
