Assam: Man Accused In Molestation Case Shot While Trying To Flee From Police Custody

According to reports, he was later shifted to the Tezpur Medical College and Hospital (TMCH) for receiving further advanced treatment.

Guwahati: A 57-year-old man, who allegedly molested a seven-year-old minor girl in Assam's Biswanath district, was shot at by cops after he tried to escape police custody.

The incident occurred in the Behali area of the Biswanath district of Assam on Sunday night.

The accused was identified as Mohim Bora, a resident of Behali area in Assam's Biswanath, who was arrested on Sunday for committing the crime.

In the firing, which took place on Sunday night, Bora sustained severe injuries. 

He was immediately rushed to the Civil Hospital at Biswanath Chariali and was admitted there for primary medical treatment.

According to reports, he was later shifted to the Tezpur Medical College and Hospital (TMCH) for receiving further advanced treatment.

Meanwhile, as soon as the incident came to light, a few locals of the region went on to attack the accused and they painted his face and paraded him across the village by making him wear a garland of shoes.

The locals further demanded the police encounter kill him in an encounter.

According to the mother of the victim, Bora lured her daughter and then molested her when she was playing in front of the house.

Bora allegedly took the girl from the place she was playing and moved with her inside his own house.

Notably, in recent days there have been several cases of criminals getting injured in police firing and many even died in police encounters that took place in Assam.
