Assam: Man beaten to death in Duliajan

A 42-year-old man, identified as Pependra Mahato from Duliajan in Dibrugarh district, died from his injuries on Tuesday, two days after he was thrashed by a group of four individuals in the Diriyal market area of the town.

DIBRUGARH: A 42-year-old man, identified as Pependra Mahato from Duliajan in Dibrugarh district, died from his injuries on Tuesday, two days after he was thrashed by a group of four individuals in the Diriyal market area of the town. The incident occurred on Sunday when Mahato and his friend, Mantu Kumar, were sitting inside a room and the group of four entered and started assaulting them over an unknown dispute.

As the fight escalated, Pependra was injured and was taken to the Oil India Limited (OIL) Hospital in Duliajan by locals, where he eventually succumbed to his injuries. The condition of Mantu Kumar, who was also beaten up, is currently stable. Pependra Mahato originally hailed from Bihar and was employed at a private firm in Duliajan.

The police have started an investigation into the incident and a case has been registered at the Duliajan police station.
