Guwahati: On Tuesday morning, the police arrested the man who had attacked AGP leader Dr Ranjit Deka's residence with a petrol bomb.
The man, identified as Mintu Ali, has been accused by the police to be involved in the entire case of attacking Ranjit Deka and his family members. The youth is 24 years old and is a resident of Pathsala town in the district of Balaji.
The police have sent Mintu Ali for 6 days remand in their custody on Tuesday.
Sources have revealed that the accused had also installed CCTV cameras in the AGP leader's residence.
All these revelations have come to light after Mintu Ali admitted to all accusations involved in the entire incident to the police.
On August 6, the AGP leader's residence was attacked as a suicide bomb was thrown at his house by Mintu Ali. Ali had also been calling Ranjit Deka's wife in a bid to threaten her.
The calls were made by Ali to the AGP leader's wife through international numbers.
The police have seized 13 mobile phones, several sim cards a laptop from Mintu Ali who is now under police custody.
Ranjit Deka had earlier contested the previous Assam Assembly elections from the Bhabanipur constituency. He also runs the 'Anundoram Baruah Academy' which is a private institute in Pathshala.
