MARIANI: A man was murdered in Mariyani on Tuesday and the daughter of the victim alleged the involvement of her stepmother and stepmother’s lover in the incident.
The incident took place on Independence Day in the Sukafa village located in the Hatipoti locality of Mariani. The victim’s daughter from his first marriage pointed her finger at the second wife of the victim who along with the help of her lover killed the man. The name of the victim was Babul Chetiya while the name of his second wife was revealed to be Parul Chetiya.
Along with the daughter, several local people also expressed their suspicion towards his wife and lover. They alleged that there was a quarrel between the husband and the wife and mentioned that her lover was also present. They also mentioned that this person used to lend money to needy people to make profits and also used to deal with illegal liquor.
Meanwhile, the angry locals gheraoed the home of the suspected lover and even try to rough him up. They demand the immediate arrest of the killers and ensure proper punishment. The police arrived at the location later and took the accused into custody for questioning. It was told that he is a member of the Sangrami Yuba Parishard Mariani Unit. Sharp tension prevailed in the locality after the incident and only after the accused was taken by the police, the situation came under control.
In a startling incident, the lifeless body of a man was discovered suspended from a tree alongside a road in Khanapara, Guwahati.
