DIBRUGARH: In a hit and run case, a person was killed by a speeding vehicle in Dibrugarh on Monday night when he was returning home. The incident occurred near Chringchapori area of Dibrugarh at around 9 pm on Monday. The deceased has been identified as Buddheshwar Baruah.
According to reports, he was returning from Namghar in a bicycle and going towards his home when the incident occurred. The person is a resident of Chringchapori area of Dibrugarh. According to eyewitness, the person was hit by the vehicle from the backside. He died on the spot. “The vehicle was coming at a high speed. The vehicle could not control its speed and ran over the man,” said a shopkeeper.
Meanwhile, police have managed to seize the vehicle bearing registration no (AS 06V 1994). “We have seized the vehicle and taken it in our custody. Due to over speeding the incident happened. Till now no FIR was filed from the victim’s family. Our investigation process has been going on and very soon we will be able to arrest the driver of the vehicle,” said Mrigen Saikia, traffic-inspector of Dibrugarh Police Station.
