TINSUKIA: A massive fire broke out om the slums of Assam’s Tinsukia on the night of Tuesday which led to the complete destruction of at least 16 residences.

The incident reportedly took place in the slum areas of Raja Ali Adarsh Path located in the Tinsukia district of the state. The fire started at around 10:30 PM on Tuesday and later spread to the nearby houses as the intensity of the fire was very high.

No casualty was reported due to the fire, but the raging fire completely gutted 16 houses and all the contents of these houses. According to the officials, the fire originated in the home of one Vishwanath Mahato and it soon engulfed 16 houses in the slum. The locals reported at least 3 explosions caused by the cooking gas cylinders.

The exact cause of the fire has not been identified yet by the authorities. They were however able to douse the flames after a few hours of effort.

In a previous incident, Five grocery stores in Assam's Nagaon district were completely destroyed by a massive fire that engulfed Rupohihat Tinali. Sources claim that the conflagration, which is thought to have started as a result of an electrical transformer malfunction, resulted in property losses worth about Rs 20 lakh. Firefighters encountered more difficulties fighting the flames as the conflagration quickly spread.

Despite their best attempts, the stores eventually burned to the ground. Local law enforcement and emergency services were on the scene quickly and worked aggressively to contain the fire and limit future damage. A house inside the Kathpara Bhai Bhai Nursery was the source of a large fire that broke out earlier on June 29 in Kathpara hamlet in Rupohihat. The Ambagan Fire Station responded quickly to the severity of the fire, and its personnel soon arrived at the scene.
