HAFLONG: Despite the scorching sun, thousands of women from various communities living in Dima Hasao came out on the streets of Haflong in protest over crime against women under the banner of Dima Hasao Joint Women’s Organisation on Tuesday. The rally which began from Lal field marched up to Synod to Council Rotary and converged in front of the office of the Deputy Commissioner, where members of the Dima Hasao Joint Women’s’ Organisation, Dima Hasao, Assam, expressed shock, anguish and sorrow over the gruesome and unimaginable incident where two women, belonging to a minority tribal community, were paraded naked on camera in presence of a hounding agitated mob on May 4. The video later went viral on social media to be witnessed by a horrified world.
Later the protestors submitted a memorandum to the President of India and Prime Minister of India with a copy to the Chief Minister of Assam through the Deputy Commissioner.
