Assam: Meet on Mission Indradhanush held in Tinsukia District

TINSUKIA: A District Task Force meeting for Intensified Mission Indradhanush (IMI) 5.0 preparedness was held in Tinsukia on Tuesday under the chairmanship of Additional Deputy Commissioner (Health) Chinmoy Pathak in the presence of Dr Jayanta Bhattacharjee, Joint Director of Health Services Tinsukia, Dr Nirod Kr Borah, District Immunization Officer, Tinsukia, Health officials from all blocks of the district and other officials and representatives from line departments like Social Welfare, Education and labour welfare department.

Dr Bhattacharjee highlighted the IMI 5.0 programme which aims to provide immunization to all eligible infants and pregnant women, with a focus on hard-to-reach areas and regions with low immunization coverage. The programme will help preventing the spread of deadly infections, reduce mortality rates, and improve the overall health of the targeted population.

The campaign will be launched in the district on August 7 for the first round immunization till August 12 followed by next two rounds in the month of September 11 to September 16 and October 9 to October 14. The Indradhanush– the 7 colours of the rainbow will cover vaccination for 7 Life-threatening diseases Poliomyelitis, Hepatitis B, Diphtheria, Measles, Meningitis, Tetanus, Tuberculosis, and Whooping cough, informed Dr Nirod Kr Borah. Concluding the meeting, ADC Pathak urged all the stakeholders to cooperate with the health department officials and to come forward for the IMI 5.0 vaccination.
