“We are saddened with the observation that in the state of Assam, in recent days, public-funded education system and the teaching communities in public funded institutes are abused by responsible quarters now and then. The space of opinions from stakeholders is blocked, and an impression is being systematically generated that teachers are responsible for every evil in the education sector’ stated memo.

The signatories could perceive the incident from social media platform which gave an impression that the Vice Chancellor took some steps without consultation with the MLA. The university authority has the right to take decisions subject to ratification in statutory bodies. Even if it was an administrative lapse, the democratic and legal avenues were open to the member of EC (MLA). Without exploring these avenues, the MLA allegedly scolded the Vice Chancellor in presence other members who intended to pacify him. The teachers have sought kind intervention of the Chancellor to uphold the dignity of education sector and academic environment in the State.
